New Pilot Program: Centre on Aging (University of Manitoba)

New Pilot Program: Centre on Aging (University of Manitoba)

The Centre on Aging at the University of Manitoba is pilot testing a free online program open to everyone in Manitoba, to help them reimagine their own aging. Please note that this is not a research project. The online program called Reimagine Aging can be accessed from any computer, tablet, or smartphone. The program has six different sessions, which take approximately one hour each, and can be done anytime. Each session consists of videos, reflection exercises, and workbooks.

We live in a very youth-oriented society. People are constantly bombarded by messages that celebrate youth and are negative about aging and older people. This program helps individuals to reimagine their own aging and discover their own value in older adulthood. This program hopes to provide participants with an opportunity to learn to recognize these negative messages about aging, how they might affect everyone, and how individuals might challenge them. We hope that participation in this program will result in positive changes in how individuals think about their own aging and aging in general.
