Executive Committee Updates - October 2023

Your Executive is kept very busy as we enter our year 2023-2024 with our new Board. We greatly appreciate everyone who took the time to register and attend our Special Meeting. The meeting was kept short and focused with all incoming members overwhelmingly voted in as new Directors. We can now focus on moving RTAM forward in 2023-2024 with the new Directors as we pursue new initiatives and goals for the Organization. Thank you for your participation!

For our golfers, based off the success of our recent event at Quarry Oaks, we have booked the RTAM Golf Tournament for the Friday prior to the September long weekend at the same venue for next year. We continue to get feedback and ideas to grow the event and we thank everyone for helping the event succeed and supporting our tournament this year. We look forward to seeing you plus other RTAM golfers at the next tournament in 2024, where we already have additions and new elements being planned (including a chance to win a car with a hole in one). There might even be an appearance of "the rusty putter" in the future!

Both the Executive and the Board have reviewed the various trip options that Ryan Mikucki from Trip Merchant provided us with earlier. Trip Merchant has provided options which offer short and long term vacations to some amazing destinations all over the world. Now we are looking for input from our members to help determine which destinations and trips we support. Please complete the survey located in the monthly e-news and forward it to the office. Then watch for an announcement on future RTAM Group trips in the coming weeks and month. Don't forget, Trip Merchant will be presenting a free online seminar to all RTAM members this December, where they will be talking about best practices as we safely return to travel in a post COVID world. Registration for this event is open online.

Speaking of online presentations and workshops, we have Sue Lantz presenting online about Aging in Place on October 3rd, we are excited to see everyone who registered for this Zoom presentation. We are also continuing to offer cooking classes with our new partners the Food Studio on Roblin. The October course is about making homemade pasta, which is perfectly warm and delicious comfort food as we head into our colder months. Register for "Pasta for the People" on the RTAM website before the window closes.

Our audit process has been delayed this year as we needed the financials from the Chapters before we could submit our materials to the auditor. Thanks to all the Chapters that focused on providing that requested information in a timely manner. We are still awaiting information from three Chapters and hope to have the RTAM audit complete for the end of December and the calendar year.

For those members who are registered voters in our upcoming Provincial elections, I trust that you reviewed our RTAM asks (located on our website), engaged with your local politicians, and voted in your area. As I draft this report, I look forward to the results of this election and the changes and growth it will bring to all Manitobans.

On behalf of the Executive Committee, the Board of Directors and the Office Staff, we wish you all a fantastic Thanksgiving Day in whatever way you choose to celebrate or mark day.

Take care. Stay healthy.
