In
December, 1999 several retired teachers in The Pas met to discuss
the development of a local Chapter of RTAM. Every retired teacher in
the area was contacted and by February there were twenty-one
interested former teachers ready to join the group. The Pas Retired
Teachers' Association was formed in April, 2000 and received its
charter from the provincial organization in May, 2000.
Our group has grown to
about 50 members, and we meet quarterly to share information and friendships.
We have initiated several local projects related to preserving the
history of education in the area, including the names of the hundreds of
teachers who have worked in The Pas. The biographies of dozens who
retired here were developed and provided to the Sam Waller Museum
archives.
Check out the year and school lists of teachers of The Pas (1913-2011),
as well as school administrators and school division superintendents, at
the history page of the website of the
Kelsey School Division.
