MINUTES
1. Call to Order
A regular meeting of The Pas Retired Teachers Association was
called to
order at 11:03 a.m. on October 22, 2007 by President Vel
McAdam. Vel
welcomed everyone in attendance. She thanked VP Ed Bodin for
his
assistance in phoning the members.
2. Attendance
Those attending: Eleanor Andreychuk, Frank Baguski, Ed Bodin, Elaine
Bollman, Howard Chen, Joyce Dugan, Terry Dugan, Bernie

Hyde, Jacqueline Isfeld, Shirley Jonas, Diane Kelly, Achim

Wadelius.
3. Minutes of Previous Meeting
The minutes of the May annual meeting had been posted on the
web page,
and were reviewed.

4. President’s Report
Vel chaired some discussion on various items including:
a) RTAM AGM feedback, very positive from the
participants, and the possible
location of the 2008 AGM.
b) MTS Blue Cross extended health plan changes in the
retired teachers’
group benefits
c) COLA Rally of October 10 in Winnipeg
d) Recent political discussions of the provincial RTAM on the
COLA issue
e) Political action requested by members. Vel circulated a
Petition to be
presented to the legislature.
5. Secretary-Treasurer’s Report
Vaughn distributed a financial statement
and stated that the bank balance at
October 21, 2007 was $152.67 which included a $5.00
membership in
Westoba Credit Union. Since the last annual general
meeting there has been
revenue of $330 (1 membership fee; penny parade income,
fees collected at
the 2007 RTAM AGM) and expenses of $325
(donations, forwarding of RTAM
fees). A bill for postage in mailing the recent
newsletter has yet to be paid.
Three new member fees ($30.00) were collected at the meeting.

7. ACER-CART Report
Vaughn reviewed the constitutional changes of the June 2007
ACER-CART
annual meeting which resulted in setting up four regional
executive positions in
the national organization: Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario, and
West. Vaughn was
elected Regional Representative-West, and also ACER-CART
Vice-President.
He reported that a group of retired teachers in Yukon was
established and is
now part of Region-West.
8. Political Action
Vel reviewed the recent negotiations with the government
representative, the
position taken by RTAM, and MTS. She asked for feedback on what
position
she should take at RTAM meetings.
9. Future Meetings
The dates of the 2007-08 remaining meetings, about
three, will be set by the
president.
10. Fellowship
Following the
formal part of the meeting, lunch and conversation were
undertaken.
11. Adjournment
Vel adjourned the business meeting at 12:15 pm.
