Senior Centre Without Walls

What is Senior Centre Without Walls (SCWW)?

SCWW provides educational and recreational group telephone activities.

Who are the participants?

The program was developed to reach out to isolated Manitobans 55 years of age and older. The participants are isolated for various reasons such as physical limitations, remote/rural locations, etc. Currently, the participants call in from 25 different communities across the province.

What types of programs are offered?

Educational / Recreational

· Language lessons

· Brain exercises

· Travelogues

· Books clubs

· Museum tours

· Support groups

· Health and safety presentations

· Cultural and holiday celebrations

How does it work?

Once a participant registers for a program, they are mailed the toll-free number and access code to call into the teleconference call at the designated time. They are also mailed materials related to their program (e.g. pictures for travelogues, herbs for an herb garden presentation, lessons for Beginner French, etc.).

How long are the programs?

The classes range from 30-60 minutes each. Programs are offered weekly, bi-weekly, monthly or once a term. We offer three terms a year.

What does the program cost?
