Comments on KIT (Winter 2011)

In the President's Report I was impressed with his description of the resilience of the RTAM membership in spite of the lack of empathy by the provincial government to deal with the  issue of the fairness of the COLA.  The breadth of wellness bears the importance of "helping create healthy minds and bodies".  The encouragement of written contribution for the newsletter is most commendable.

The 2011 ACER-CART AGM by Vaughn Wadelius outlined the essence of the deliberations  and positions taken on issues affecting all retirees and seniors.   Barbara McDole's report on the Wellness Seminar "Revisiting Past Pleasures" was most informative and enjoyable to read.   The Pensions Committee Chair's Report by Anne Monk gave an outstanding review of the COLA issue and how there may be a breakthrough in dealing with the issue but only time and the political will to correct an injustice will tell.

The Manitoba Normal School Class of 1952 - 1953 Reunion provided for many a lot of pleasant memories.

For all who travel the article Emergency Medical Travel Insurance - The Claim Submission Process was an excellent  guide.

Pictures that accompany the various articles add much to the publication.  The report of Ye Olde Rusty Golf Tournament and the 1951 Normal School Class Celebrate Diamond Jubilee added to the interest of the articles.

What a remarkable event that was organized to commemorate Graysville School. Reunions always seem to give one a sense of belonging.

Water Ambassadors Canada by Barry Hart illustrated the breadth of involvement throughout the world by the many volunteers who believe that  as many of us do "Volunteerism is the voice of the people put into action. These actions shape and mold the present into a future of which we can all be proud.”

William Taylor's article on travelling The Mongolian Express, A Gap Adventure to Europe was fascinating.  It is always a pleasure to read of the travels and perceptions of others.

Sincerely,

Arnold Hull – President ACER-CART
